Disability Tax Credit

The Disability Tax Credit (DTC) is a non-refundable tax credit in Canada designed to reduce the income tax burden for individuals with disabilities or their supporting family members. It aims to help offset costs associated with prolonged physical or mental impairments. To qualify, a medical practitioner must certify the condition on a DTC application (Form T2201). Once approved, the credit can be retroactively claimed for up to 10 years. The DTC also provides access to other disability-related programs and benefits.
