How to Factory Reset TP Link Deco: A Quick Guide

If your TP-Link Deco mesh Wi‑Fi setup is acting weird, like dropping, lagging, or having random setup problems, doing a factory Reset TP Link Deco can help, sorta put everything back where it belongs. When you reset, it basically wipes all the customized stuff, including your Wi‑Fi name, password and whatever network settings you changed. Before you go ahead, just be sure you still have your Deco login details, because you’ll need them later to set the device up again.

How to Factory Reset TP Link Deco

  • First, make sure your Deco unit is powered on.

  • Next, find the Reset button on the bottom side or the back of the device.

  • Press and hold the Reset button for about 10–15 seconds, using a paperclip or a SIM ejector tool.

  • Then release it when the LED begins flashing yellow or when the light changes color, showing the reset has actually started.

  • Now wait a few minutes so the Deco can reboot fully, don’t rush this part.

Set Up Your Deco Again

After the factory Reset TP Link Deco finishes, you’ll need to configure your network one more time.

  • Open the TP-Link Deco app on your phone.

  • Sign in with your Deco login account.

  • Follow the prompts on screen to add the Deco unit back.

  • Set a new Wi‑Fi network name, and also create a new password.

  • Reconnect all your devices to that new wireless network.

When Should You Reset Your Deco?

  • If you forgot the administrator password.

  • If the Deco system just won’t respond, even after checking power and cables.

  • If you’re selling it, gifting it, or handing it over to someone else.

  • If network problems keep happening even after you tried the usual troubleshooting steps.

Final Note

A factory Reset TP Link Deco is usually a straightforward and pretty solid fix for lots of connectivity headaches. Once it’s done, you can use your Deco login and reconfigure everything quickly through the Deco app. But if the issue keeps going even after the reset and the re-setup, then contacting TP-Link support or getting professional help is the better move.
