RA Power Solutions has designed an easy to use Portable Crankshaft Polisher for onsite machining and polishing of crank pins, main journals and cylindrical shafts up to 700 mm diameter. Crankshaft polishing used to be done only on heavy equipment by highly skilled technicians, but portable technology has made on-site crankshaft machining much more practical.

Excessive taper or ovality, seized crankpin bearing or bearing marks, pitting and other surface damage on the crankpin require crankpin machining. The periodic polishing is effective in removing line marks and small surface defects, whilst maintaining the required surface finish.

The major engine manufacturers supply crankpins and main journals with close dimensional tolerances, typically in the range of 0.02 mm to 0.05 mm. Proper machining and polishing is important to maintain these dimensions, improve bearing contact, reduce friction and support smooth engine operation.

The machine can polish crankshafts in situ, i.e. without removing the crankshaft from the engine. This reduces repair time and costs.
